Though I do see Sonic911’s point about fearing the downfall of all the technology that we have grown to depend upon almost entirely for our way of life, I do find fault in comparing it to the blackout. I was not in the blackout in New York City in 2003, but I was in a smaller one in this summer, when the subways were out etc. Rather than a sense of fear and panic spreading over the city, there was a sense of bonding and annoyance. New Yorkers, not including myself, had been through it before and knew, without a doubt, that the power would come back on, which is how I feel about technology. The power and technology will always rebuild. People, much smarter than myself, already have the basis for technological power and understanding, and because of that they will be able to restore the US to what they know and depend on, even if it does take a little time.
